Week Twelve at The Shire

What’s going on in Abergavenny this week?

Fire and Fork

Almost a year on since they opened their doors, Fire and Fork have a new head chef and will be launching a brand new menu on Thursday 17th October. This includes red wine braised beef cheeks with creamy polenta and salsa verde.

You can book a table here.

Cider Festival at The Towpath Inn

The Towpath Inn will be hosting a Cider Festival from the 18th-20th October.

They’ve teamed up with Gwynt y Ddraig to bring you 14 unique Welsh ciders, and are offering cider passports that include a half-pint of each cider PLUS a commemorative glass to take home.

There will be live music all weekend, and you can enjoy their hugely popular Detroit and New York-style pizzas.

Free apple juice for the kids with every passport purchase, so you can bring the whole family.

Get your cider passport here.

Crown and Sceptre

Another new menu launch this week. Crown and Sceptre have announced Mark Peters as their new chef, and will be offering a ‘Back to Pub Classics’ menu on Thursday evening. Keep track of other updates here via their Facebook page.

Catch 22

“Funny moment of the week from a chippy takeaway point of view…

We’ve had a few people trying to book tables because they think the food is of restaurant standard and want to dine with us.

We really appreciate this as it goes to show our concept ‘not your average chippy’ is doing its job! Maybe next year, we might have a wine list with a sommelier 🙌🏼😉”
